Is gray the new black?
When it comes to cutting-edge, custom interior design for homes, pushing the envelope on color can change something bland into something bold. Flooring that shouts (or whispers) in the same color language as the rest of the home can make quite a statement.
BoardHouse’s team has discovered that the color of a fine wood floor can make a world of difference for a home. Color is such a large part of the design experience that it can follow, and even lead, the trends in colors each year.
For instance, this year gray is the topic of discussion in everything from magazines to design blogs to social platforms like Houzz.com.
BoardHouse works with wood from the time the raw materials are selected to the moment its team crafts them into custom flooring. The end result is color that can range from the most natural to the most dramatically original. Designer partners and homeowners continue to request that BoardHouse follow current flooring color trends, including grays, dark mochas and weathered pewters, but sometimes the projects they undertake start new trends too.
“We really dance on the edge with color,” says BoardHouse’s owner, Christine Meyer. “Color can be traditional, or something up-and-coming that no one has seen yet on a floor.”
The process of transforming materials from what comes in via BoardHouse’s worldwide supply partners to what ultimately graces someone’s floor, is distinct to the company’s artisanal workers.
